Deposits held at branches of foreign banks with their registred office in another EU Member State

Deposits at branches of foreign banks with registered office in an EU Member State operating on our market, for example mBank, Všeobecná úverová banka etc., are insured according to the legislation in the country in which the bank has its registered office. If such bank goes bankrupt, the payout of deposit compensation for these banks in the Czech Republic will now be organised by the Financial Market Guarantee System according to the instructions of the foreign deposit insurance scheme from the country in which the bank has its registered office. The Guarantee System will also provide information and accept written submissions on behalf of the foreign deposit insurance scheme.
